Pehu Simonet house’s owner David Pehu, an energetic man, runs his winery in a very authentic way. His vineyards spread over five villages classified as Grand Cru, a mark of the highest quality. These are Mailly, Verzenay, Verzy, and Sillery, all of which are known for Pinot Noir grapes. The last one in Mesnil-sur-Oger is owned by Pehu’s wife so he can also make wine of Grand Cru Blancs de Blancs.
In the past few years David has been changing its winery towards his own bio-dynamic vision. He has a courage to do things differently, without fear of being judged. If you listen to his soft words, you will sense the deep passion and love that he has for his vineyards.
Pehu Simonet is no champagne for beginners. However, those who understand champagne and taste this brand will not leave with only one bottle. The Pehu Simonet champagne is especially recommended by Terry Thiese, one of world’s most respected champagne experts.
